Inverness Institution to Launch New Centre Focused on Sustainable Construction Training

UHI Inverness is set to establish a new Sustainable Construction Centre, marking a significant investment in its future growth and curriculum expansion. The center, located in a former equipment hire unit on Harbour Road, will feature classrooms, workshops, and social areas, and will focus on sustainable construction skills essential for meeting the region’s growing demand for skilled professionals. Funded in part by a £352,000 grant from SSEN Transmission’s Regional Community Benefit Fund, the revamped 12,000-square-foot facility will provide structured courses on building design, energy-efficient materials, and sustainability practices. The initiative directly supports net-zero targets and aims to foster collaboration between industry stakeholders, helping train the next generation of green construction practitioners. The center is expected to open in spring 2023.
