Jack Brown stadium in Jamestown has unveiled a state-of-the-art lighting system designed for efficiency and minimal light pollution, enhancing both the field and the surrounding neighborhood. According to Amy Walters, executive director of the Jamestown Parks and Recreation District, the new LED fixtures and poles, installed after the old system was destroyed by lightning, focus light directly on the field, allowing for nighttime baseball games without disruptive glare. The project, costing over $310,500, received funding from various sources, including insurance claims and grants. With this upgrade, operational costs will decrease, contributing to improved local sports facilities just as construction for the $1.2 million Nickeus Park project is set to begin this summer.
