The City of Kamloops has successfully upgraded the lighting at the three ice rinks within the McArthur Island Sport and Event Centre to energy-efficient LED systems. This enhancement is projected to reduce the facility’s electricity consumption by 17%, resulting in annual energy savings of approximately 379,113 kWh, equivalent to the electricity usage of 33 households. The city anticipates a payback period of just 4.8 years for this investment. In addition to energy efficiency, the improved lighting quality will enhance the experience for all rink users. The upgrades were made possible with the support of incentives from BC Hydro.
