LED Lighting Installed at Ugandan Orphanage

During a mission trip in June, the New Hope Church of Traverse City will deliver 88 tPOD1 LED lighting units to an orphanage located near Kampala, Uganda. This initiative, formed through a collaboration between the church and Tellurex, aims to replace kerosene lamps currently used for lighting, enhancing safety and indoor air quality while reducing costs. Richard Harmon, a Tellurex Program Manager, emphasized the tPOD1’s potential benefits. The units were funded through a Kickstarter campaign and donations from Tellurex. Additionally, the team will engage with policymakers in Uganda to explore further applications of tPOD1 technology, which aims to assist the estimated 1.7 billion people without reliable lighting worldwide.
