The Falls Supervisors have approved the installation of four 70-foot athletic field lights at Pennsbury High School’s practice soccer field after a detailed discussion about potential glare and light spill. This decision amends a previous land development plan that also included an eight-lane synthetic track and an artificial turf field. School officials assured that the lights, which will be on timers and turned off by 10 p.m.—with rare exceptions for home football games—would cause “zero light spillover” onto adjacent properties. Although some residents expressed concerns, arguing that the facility would resemble a second stadium, school officials clarified that the practice field is primarily used for low-attendance sports, accommodating up to 250 spectators.
