In Bengaluru, the government plans to light up 160 Metro pillars at 10 key junctions with dynamic LED lights as part of the Brand Bengaluru initiative. This illumination will feature vibrant colors, including red, blue, green, and white, enhancing a 5km stretch of the Namma Metro. While the scheme aims to beautify often dimly lit areas around the stations, it has sparked criticism from regular commuters. They argue that funds would be better spent on improving walkable footpaths and commuter facilities, especially following recent fare hikes. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) has issued a tender for the project, which reflects previous beautification attempts, including a limited vertical garden initiative.
