The Wimberley Valley Dark Sky (WVDS) recently presented the Night Sky Friendly business award to the Wimberley Village Library for its commitment to minimizing light pollution with its newly expanded facility. As an official International Dark Sky Community since 2018, Wimberley Valley prioritizes preserving the night sky. Library Executive Director Carolyn Manning emphasized that both the new and existing sections of the library were designed to ensure that lighting directs downwards, reducing its impact on surrounding darkness. This recognition is part of a collaborative effort between WVDS, the Hill Country Alliance, and the Wimberley Valley Chamber of Commerce to promote businesses that utilize non-polluting night lighting.
