Lincoln Issues Recall for Over 35,000 Navigators Due to Short Circuit Risk and Potential Fire Hazard

Lincoln is recalling 35,328 Navigator SUVs from the 2015-2017 model years due to a potential fire hazard linked to faulty LED puddle lamps on exterior mirrors. These lamps, designed to project the Lincoln logo onto the ground, may short circuit because the potting material used did not adhere properly to wire terminals, allowing water to penetrate and cause corrosion. While the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has flagged this concern, Lincoln has reported no accidents or injuries connected to the issue. Rather than repairing the lamps, dealers will disconnect them at no cost to owners, who can also seek reimbursement for any prior related expenses. Notifications will be sent to owners starting March 24, and further information is available through Lincoln or Ford’s customer service.
