Local Firm’s Sustainable Transition Cuts Energy Costs by 50%

Alloy Wire International (AWI), a manufacturer based in Brierley Hill, Dudley borough, has successfully reduced its energy costs by 25% thanks to grant assistance from Dudley Council and the business Growth West Midlands program. Following a staggering four-fold increase in energy prices, the company invested in 425 solar panels to power its continuously running furnaces, with funding covering half of the installation costs through the Dudley Net Zero Grant, part of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. Adviser Donna Watkins played a key role in conducting a business review and recommending a shift to LED lighting as part of an energy audit. AWI’s Finance Director, Adam Shaw, emphasized the company’s commitment to sustainability and its competitive edge in the global market, while Councillor Simon Phipps noted the positive impact of the grants in driving local economic growth and innovation.
