Meta Overhauls AI Division in Effort to Develop Superintelligence Amid Competitive Talent Landscape and Significant Investment
Meta is restructuring its AI division, Meta Superintelligence, by splitting it into four specialized teams to optimize its considerable talent investment and accelerate its pursuit of superintelligence. The restructuring includes the TBD Lab, FAIR, Products and Applied Research, and MSL Infra, aimed at enhancing efficiency without layoffs. However, the company is also contemplating further downsizing and may explore third-party AI models to bolster its capabilities. CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s aggressive talent acquisition strategy has led to heightened competition in Silicon Valley, contributing to a projected increase in Meta’s annual capital spending to between $66 billion and $72 billion.
