Mayo Dark Sky Park, in partnership with the Ballycroy Community, is set to host an exciting series of events for Culture Night on September 20 at the Ballycroy Community Centre. The highlight will be the debut of the mobile planetarium show “Pale Blue Dot,” presented collaboratively by Wild Nephin National Park, Ballycroy Visitor Centre, and Armagh Observatory and Planetarium. Attendees can enjoy five 20-minute shows on a first-come, first-served basis, alongside activities like a ‘Star Trail’ for stargazing and biodiversity exploration. Complementing the festivities, the Ballycroy Women’s Group will deliver a World Food Night, and additional astronomy experiences will take place at the Visitor Centre. For night owls, a Dark Sky/Stargazing Walk is scheduled at 10:30 pm. This free event begins at 7 pm, embracing Mayo’s reputation as a global Dark Sky destination, and is part of ongoing efforts to highlight the importance of preserving the night sky.
