The New Castle Area School District is set to enhance its softball field by installing lights, following a unanimous 7-0 vote by the school board to approve a $223,619 contract with Musco Lighting of Iowa. The decision, driven by the need for evening and playoff games, aims to improve scheduling flexibility and maximize game opportunities in the spring season. Superintendent Dr. Gregg Paladina noted that the lights would enable the district to hold games later in the day and accommodate teams lacking lighting for their fields. Softball coach Laurie Lidak emphasized that the initiative would provide greater access for families and allow the program to operate more efficiently during the shorter days of early spring.
