MIC Electronics Limited (MICEL) has introduced an Emergency Light Unit (ELU) aimed at enhancing safety in railways during power outages and emergencies, set to be trialed on Vande Bharat trains and coaches. The company anticipates receiving final approvals for the pilot tests within weeks and plans a phased rollout contingent on performance evaluations and feedback from railway authorities. The ELU is designed for various railway systems, particularly prioritizing high-risk areas and routes with heavy passenger traffic to maximize safety. Key features include automatic activation during power failures, prolonged backup for adequate emergency lighting, and energy-efficient LED illumination.
