The Cuttack municipal corporation (CMC) has unveiled plans to enhance safety along a newly constructed 1.5 km road connecting NH-16 to Nuapada, which runs alongside the Taladanda canal. The initiative includes the installation of over 100 energy-efficient LED lighting poles, a response to rising vehicular traffic and safety concerns among commuters. With a budget of Rs 92 lakh and work expected to be completed by the end of the month, CMC Mayor Subhash Singh emphasized that the project aims to reduce accident risks and curb criminal activities. An automatic timer system will be integrated to ensure lights activate at sunset, enhancing energy efficiency and safety. Local residents have expressed approval of the initiative, underscoring the need for ongoing maintenance post-installation.
