The Ministry of Environment has launched a new initiative to encourage the recycling and replacement of traditional light bulbs and fluorescent tubes with energy-efficient LED devices at over 600 participating stores. Resource Circulation Administration Secretary-General Liu Yi-kun announced that, since 2002, more than 90,000 tonnes of traditional lighting have been recycled, with efforts continuing to collect the remaining 6 percent. Under this program, which runs from next Tuesday to October 31, participants can enjoy various incentives, including discounts and rewards for recycling old bulbs or purchasing LED lights. The ministry aims to recycle 1,100 tonnes of traditional lighting by the end of the year, projecting substantial reductions in waste and carbon emissions. The initiative is supported by various retail chains and industry representatives, underscoring a collective commitment to environmental sustainability.
