Construction on Christchurch’s One New Zealand stadium at Te Kaha is making significant strides, according to project director Kent Summerfield. Key developments over the past month include the relocation of hydraulic towers for the roof installation, with each section weighing up to 160 tonnes and pre-fabricated on-site. The installation of gantries and walkways, equipped with adjustable sports lighting, has begun alongside the ongoing internal fit-out of the west stand, which will house player facilities and hospitality suites. The southern stand’s food and beverage outlets are also being framed, with plans for 23 outlets and three bars throughout the venue. Painting crews are on-site finishing touches, while preparations for the façade cladding and seating, featuring local artist Morgan Darlison’s artworks, are underway. Summerfield confirmed that the project is on track for its scheduled opening in April 2026 and remains within budget.
