New Turf Fields and Lighting Upgrades at Lawrence Youth Sports Complex Expected to Be Ready for Fall Soccer Season

Lawrence’s Youth sports Complex, located at 4911 W. 27th St., is set to undergo significant upgrades this year, with construction expected to begin in the spring, pending weather conditions. The $3.6 million project, approved by the City Commission, includes converting six of the 15 grass fields into four turf fields, adding outdoor lighting, and expanding the parking area. The turf fields will enable more flexibility for soccer and football games, reducing weather-related cancellations and allowing extended practice times for local teams. The enhancements aim to improve traffic flow during events and boost overall usage of the complex, with completion expected by the fall soccer season.
