Op-Ed: Discover the Advantages of Breck’s Dark Sky Initiative

In November, a presentation in Breckenridge highlighted the town’s efforts to achieve “dark sky” certification, aimed at reducing light pollution and its negative effects on residents, wildlife, and the environment. The event included informative films and discussions on the benefits of dark sky compliance, such as improved mental and physical health, better conditions for migrating birds, and healthier plant cycles. Although implementing these changes will involve adjustments to building codes, the town is focused on minimizing costs while maximizing the advantages of preserving natural nighttime aesthetics.
