Osram reported a robust performance in the first quarter of its fiscal year, achieving a nominal revenue increase of 5% to nearly EUR 1.4 billion, buoyed by a weaker euro and the acquisition of Clay Paky. On a comparable basis, revenue grew by 0.5%, while EBITA, excluding special items, rose by 23% to EUR 151 million, yielding a margin of 10.8%. However, after accounting for transformation-related costs of EUR 184 million, Osram experienced a reported EBITA loss of EUR 41 million and a net loss of EUR 39 million. Key growth came from the Opto Semiconductors and Specialty Lighting segments, with LED-based products now representing 39% of total revenue. Despite challenges in the Classic Lamps segment and a 19% decline in the Luminaires & Solutions segment, Osram reaffirmed its expectations for fiscal year 2015 amidst ongoing transformation efforts. The company also announced noteworthy projects, including significant lighting installations in cultural venues and advancements in sensor technology for mobile devices.
