President of Taiwan Attends Inauguration of New Genesis Photonics Facility

During the inaugural ceremony of Genesis Photonics Inc.’s new plant in Tainan City, Taiwan President Ma Ying-jeou announced the country’s commitment to enhancing its LED infrastructure, including the installation of LED street lights and indoor lighting in public buildings. Highlighting that green technology is one of the Cabinet’s six key development industries, Ma noted Taiwan’s leading position as a global supplier of LED lighting and molding. He emphasized that Taiwan ranks just behind Singapore in the deployment of LED traffic lights. David Chung, president of Genesis Photonics, expressed optimism about the LED industry’s future, despite global economic challenges, and revealed that the new facility will include Taiwan’s first production lines for 6-inch epitaxial wafers and a dedicated innovation center for training talent in solid-state lighting technology.
