The José María Minella stadium in Mar del Plata is set for significant refurbishment following the completion of a bidding process, with an investment exceeding AR$47 billion (over US$39 million). The project is led by “Minella Stadium S.A.,” a company formed by Brazil’s Revee Group, which will manage the stadium and the nearby Islas Malvinas multi-sports venue for 30 years. Planned upgrades include the construction of VIP boxes, new broadcasting facilities, and enhanced irrigation systems, along with major improvements to the electrical setup and lighting to meet FIFA standards. The initiative aims to host 30-35 events annually at the stadium, including football, rugby, and concerts, with additional events planned for the Islas Malvinas venue. A proposal is now awaiting final approval from the city council, with a deadline of 36 months for the first phase of renovations.
