A recent study conducted at Dadasaheb Mokashi College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology in Maharashtra, India, explored the morphological characteristics of cucumber plants grown in a Dutch Bucket Hydroponic system under both natural and artificial light. The study, which took place from June to July 2024, involved the HY shiny cucumber variety and evaluated parameters such as leaf count, leaf area, stem diameter, plant height, and root length. Findings revealed that cucumber plants under artificial LED light displayed significantly improved growth, with increases of 18% in leaf count, 54% in leaf area, 28% in plant height, and 25% in root length compared to those grown under natural light. The average stem diameter remained consistent across both light conditions at approximately 1.1 cm. This research highlights the advantages of artificial lighting in enhancing hydroponic cucumber cultivation, supporting a growing trend in innovative agricultural practices in India.
