Boone County is set to acquire Rivershore sports Park in Hebron for $750,000, expanding its recreational facilities to meet the growing demand for youth sports. The 38-acre park features six baseball fields, four equipped with LED lighting for night games, along with essential amenities like restrooms and a concession stand. Boone County Parks Director David Whitehouse highlighted the increasing youth sports participation in the area, indicating a need for more facilities. The acquisition was prompted after Boone County Knothole Association announced it could no longer manage the site, leading to this purchase before a potential listing on the open market in 2025. The county’s budget for 2024-2025 includes financing for the acquisition, which is estimated to be significantly less costly than developing new sports facilities. Boone County Judge/Executive Gary Moore hailed the move as a strategic decision to enhance community sports programming.
