The Clwydian Range and Dee Valley National Landscape team, in collaboration with Clwb Rygbi Rhuthun and Llanfwrog Community Centre, has successfully implemented a sustainable lighting project for local sports facilities, including pitches, tennis courts, and a golf driving range. This initiative, aimed at reducing light pollution and enhancing both user experience and environmental conservation, includes advanced LED lights designed to minimize ecological impact and energy waste. With a notable decrease in energy consumption—45% for the Rugby Club and 61% for the tennis Club—this lighting system features a controllable light management system accessible via a mobile app. The lights emit a warmer color temperature, reducing harm to local wildlife. Officials commend the project as a model for sustainable lighting that could potentially be adopted throughout Wales.
