Sabina Park is set to host its inaugural day-night Test match next month as Australia tours the Caribbean, following the completion of a J$75 million upgrade featuring new LED floodlights. Prime Minister Andrew Holness officially launched the project, which aims to enhance Jamaica’s cricket profile and revitalize the historic venue. Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport Olivia Grange hailed the upgrade as pivotal for cricket development, noting that the lights will facilitate a series of day and night events. Accompanying the lighting project is the installation of a new digital scoreboard, a collaborative effort with the Indian government. As part of a broader initiative, the Ministry is allocating J$100 million over the next three years to grassroots cricket, reinforcing Jamaica’s commitment to rejuvenating its cricketing landscape. The upcoming pink-ball Test promises to mark a significant milestone in Jamaica’s cricket history, showcasing Sabina Park as a premier venue once again.
