Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica, has officially entered a new era of cricket with a J$75 million government-funded lighting upgrade, marking its first-ever day-night Test match against Australia scheduled for July. Prime Minister Andrew Holness inaugurated the LED floodlights, which symbolize a renewed commitment to international cricket and the venue’s future. This pivotal enhancement addresses previous lighting shortcomings, enabling the park to host evening matches. Additionally, a state-of-the-art digital scoreboard donated by India is set to be installed by the end of June, further modernizing the venue. The Jamaican government is also investing J$100 million over three years to boost grassroots cricket development, ensuring a sustainable future for the sport in the region. With these improvements, Sabina Park aims to regain its status on the global cricket stage and foster local talent.
