Samsung Display Unveils Groundbreaking Technology for Quantum Dot Ink Regeneration

Samsung Display has unveiled a groundbreaking technology that recycles quantum dot (QD) ink, successfully recovering 80% of the ink that was previously discarded during the QD-OLED display manufacturing process. This innovation allows the ink to be refined, maintaining its purity and optical properties, and is projected to save the company approximately KRW 10 billion (around $7.3 million) annually. The development, spearheaded by a dedicated task force, came to fruition in August 2024 and has been integrated into production since October. As Samsung Display continues to enhance its QD-OLED offerings, this initiative not only reduces costs but also supports resource recycling efforts, aligning with the company’s commitment to sustainability.
