Construction of the Saxon Hill sports Complex, Alfred University’s ambitious $30 million sports and recreation facility, is on schedule for a December 2026 completion despite challenging weather conditions this spring. The complex, situated on a 200-acre site approximately three miles from campus, will cater to a variety of sports, facilitating new intercollegiate teams, including baseball, rugby, and field hockey. Recent developments include the installation of scoreboards and foundational work for playing fields and associated structures. The project aims to enhance student-athlete recruitment, potentially increasing enrollment by 170 students in its first six years. Funded through bonds and philanthropy, with over $11 million raised, the facility promises to serve as a hub for athletics, intramural sports, and community events.
