Scottish School Tests LiFi Technology in Collaboration with Leading Tech and Academic Institutions

A secondary school in Scotland has begun a pioneering pilot project by implementing pureLiFi’s innovative technology, which transmits data via LED lighting. Developed by pureLiFi, a company spun off from the University of Edinburgh, and supported by the Scottish Government’s Digital Strategy, the project features the installation of eight LiFi-enabled LED bulbs and corresponding stations to facilitate high-speed wireless connectivity. Professor Harald Haas, co-founder of pureLiFi, expressed excitement over this significant milestone, marking the first deployment of LiFi in a school. The technology promises to enhance secure and reliable wireless communication by utilizing the visible light spectrum, potentially inspiring future innovations in the field.
