Swiss start-up SideLights has launched a crowdfunding campaign for its innovative cycling safety lights, touted as the world’s first 360° and Double Beam lights designed to enhance visibility for cyclists. Developed by BMX enthusiast Arthur Claessens, the product features bright headlights (600-lumen combined), a taillight, and side indicators, all seamlessly integrated into the ends of the handlebars. This design allows for improved visibility from all directions, aiming to reduce accidents by helping motorists better gauge a cyclist’s speed and width. The patent-pending SideLights are easy to install, compatible with most handlebars, and claim to be theft-resistant. Priced at approximately 119 Swiss francs (~$137) during the Kickstarter campaign, the brand anticipates product delivery to backers by April 2025, already surpassing its initial funding target by five times.
