Antelope, Oregon, has earned certification as an International Dark Sky Community, marking it as the first city in the state to receive this designation and the fifth International Dark Sky Place in Oregon. The community, which boasts a population of just 38, has committed to preserving its pristine night skies, where residents can easily view the Milky Way. This certification reflects Antelope’s rich history and the community’s efforts to integrate astro-tourism and heritage preservation. Antelope aims to attract astronomy enthusiasts and eco-tourists while continuing to safeguard its nocturnal environment for future generations.
