Springdale City Council Approves Redevelopment Plan for Tri-County Mall

The Springdale City Council has unanimously approved the redevelopment plan for the former Tri-County Mall, now named City Center Springdale. This ambitious project will transform the site into a mixed-use community featuring approximately 1,300 apartments, two hotels, a medical office building, and 150,000 square feet dedicated to retail and entertainment. Council members expressed a desire to see a grocery store, particularly suggesting the return of Kroger, which was a long-standing tenant when the mall first opened in 1960. However, project managers indicated that a large store would conflict with their vision of a smaller, more community-focused space. The new development group aims to avoid the pitfalls that stalled previous redevelopment efforts by utilizing a syndicated ownership structure and has committed to minimizing parking lots while enhancing green spaces. With this recent approval, the city will enter negotiations to finalize development agreements and refine architectural plans for the new community.
