At the World Horti Center, four students from the Horti Technics & Management program are conducting a groundbreaking project on strawberry cultivation using innovative LED lighting technology. In a vibrant ‘pink’ greenhouse, they are growing ‘Sonata’ strawberries and exploring the effects of specific additives to enhance plant resilience. This research is part of a collaboration between MBO Westland, Vertify, and RED Horticulture, which aims to optimize crop production and energy efficiency through smart lighting solutions. Students are involved in hands-on learning, tracking weekly progress and preparing for their first harvest in the coming weeks. This initiative not only advances agricultural practices but also empowers students to aspire to their own future gardening businesses.
