Research conducted at Nottingham University has confirmed that sunny weather enhances the efficacy of herbicides, specifically mesosulfuron-based products like Atlantis Star. The trials demonstrated that applications made under higher light intensities, mimicking sunny conditions, resulted in improved herbicidal activity compared to those made under lower light levels. This finding supports the longstanding suspicions of agronomists and farmers regarding weather conditions and herbicide performance. Experts caution, however, that while sunny weather benefits herbicide effectiveness, it also carries risks such as increased frost potential and plant stress. To optimize weed control, farmers are encouraged to apply herbicides promptly during periods of bright weather and consider combining treatments for comprehensive weed management.
