Sunbury and Ranges Omitted from State Budget Allocations
In the recent state budget released by Treasurer Jaclyn Symes, Sunbury and the Macedon Ranges received limited attention, primarily highlighting the return of funding for upgrading the Calder Freeway. A significant aspect of this budget is the funding for a new interchange at Calder Freeway and Calder Park Drive, part of a broader $1.2 billion initiative aimed at enhancing road infrastructure across Victoria. While the Calder Action Group expressed appreciation for the joint federal and state funding for this project, local leaders pointed out unmet needs, including calls for road condition improvements and innovative housing solutions. Although some transportation upgrades were noted, such as the addition of six-carriage V/Line services on weekends and continued investment in local bus routes, several advocacy efforts for Sunbury projects, supported by Hume Council, remain unfunded.
