This week, the Hudson Town Board in western Wisconsin voted to approve plans for a new youth athletic complex, marking a significant advancement for local youth sports. The proposed complex, backed by the Hudson Boosters, will feature five lighted turf fields, a concessions building, and a central plaza, all situated on 22 acres of land purchased 15 years ago. The project was previously hindered by strict zoning regulations, but the new amendment will create a “youth-oriented recreation district,” allowing for necessary changes. Local residents voiced overwhelming support during the public comment session, highlighting the need for centralized facilities to accommodate the growing number of youth athletes in the area. The $14 million complex will incorporate innovative “dark sky lighting” to mitigate light pollution, and if county approval is granted, fundraising efforts will begin with hopes of opening the facility within four years.
