The University of the Arts London (UAL) has unveiled a cutting-edge Virtual Production (VP) research stage in collaboration with Sony, located within the Fashion Textiles and Technology Institute at the new East Bank campus in London. This state-of-the-art facility features a 19.5m x 4m Crystal LED wall powered by Brompton Technology’s advanced LED processing, promising exceptional visual quality and flexibility for innovative research in virtual production and XR textiles. The setup, which includes Sony’s VERONA panels and high-performance Tessera processors, enables intricate color management and real-time image optimization, crucial for lifelike visuals. Positioned as a hub for creative exploration, the facility is expected to drive collaboration across various disciplines and foster advancements in digitally rendered textiles and performance contexts. The project, funded by the UKRI Arts and Humanities Research Council, sets a new benchmark for industry standards and research capabilities in the field.
