The Agri-tech Commercialization Ecosystems (ACE), a collaborative initiative involving the universities of Lincoln, Cambridge, and East Anglia, has secured a £5 million grant from the UKRI-Research England CCF-RED Fund. This funding will establish a national agri-tech ‘Technology Transfer office‘ and launch Ceres Agri-Tech Ltd, aimed at commercializing early-stage agricultural innovations. The project addresses regional challenges such as low wages and climate resilience, with goals to fund 95 research projects, generate over 1,300 new jobs, and contribute £506 million to the UK economy within the next decade. Key figures, including Professor Simon Pearson and Dr. Louise Sutherland, emphasize the significant impact this initiative will have on enhancing the UK’s agri-tech innovation landscape and fostering sustainable agricultural practices.
