Updates on Caribbean Energy: Procurement Initiatives, Green Financing, and Solar Power Agreements

The Guyana Energy Agency has initiated a tender aimed at expanding power supply to remote areas through the installation of photovoltaic systems at 17 hinterland locations, with bids due by July 1. Meanwhile, Jamaican firm Access Financial Services has requested $5 million in financing from IDB Invest to support green market initiatives, including solar micro-grids and energy efficiency upgrades, with the proposal set for board review on July 15. Additionally, the Bahamian government has signed power purchase agreements with Family Island Microgrid and RenugenPro to enhance electricity supply in the Family Islands, with project completion expected next year.
