The University of Queensland has awarded its highest honor, Honorary Doctorates, to three distinguished individuals: physicist Dr. Catherine Foley AO PSM, geneticist Emeritus Professor Sir Peter Donnelly, and education advocate and global funds manager Matthew McLennan. UQ Vice-Chancellor Professor Deborah Terry expressed pride in recognizing these leaders for their remarkable contributions to science, health, and education. Dr. Foley is celebrated for her pioneering research in physics and her leadership as Australia’s former Chief Scientist. Sir Peter Donnelly is acknowledged for his significant advancements in human genetics, including the International HapMap Project. Meanwhile, Matthew McLennan is recognized for his philanthropic efforts in education and his role in managing substantial global funds. The honorary degrees will be presented during upcoming graduation ceremonies at UQ.
