Located at an elevation of approximately 8,520 feet, the park offers some of the clearest views of the night sky in an urban area, despite ongoing threats from light pollution and urban development. Advocacy for preserving dark skies has been a mission for residents like Hernández, who sought legislative measures to mitigate light pollution in Queretaro. A recent study highlights the alarming trend of increasing artificial lighting, with the night sky getting 10% brighter each year globally. As the comet drew into view, the gathering brought joy to families, including young Matti González, who delighted in the experience of stargazing through a telescope.
