Volunteers from the Dark Skies Herefordshire initiative have been honored with the DarkSky International Bob Gent Community Leadership Award for their efforts in reducing light pollution and preserving the county’s natural night skies. Founded by former county councillor Yolande Watson, the initiative engages in citizen science to address light pollution, which adversely affects wildlife and human health. The Herefordshire Astronomical Society plays an active role by hosting regular meetings and stargazing events, further promoting awareness of the issue.
