The Weber County Sky Monitoring Project is inviting volunteers to help collect data on night sky brightness to combat light pollution and its impacts on wildlife. Sponsored by the Wasatch Audubon Society in collaboration with Audubon Rockies and Great Salt Lake Audubon, the initiative aims to raise awareness about light pollution’s effects on ecosystems, particularly for migrating birds and nocturnal species. Volunteers will receive training and work in pairs to monitor light levels across the county during specific sessions. Simple daily actions, like using downward-facing lights and warm-colored bulbs, can also help mitigate light pollution. Interested individuals can sign up through a Google form or by emailing the project coordinator.
