Wageningen University will host a lecture on November 13, 2024, focused on the role of green light in photobiology and its effects on plant growth. Traditionally overlooked, green light is gaining recognition among researchers for its significance in controlled environment agriculture, particularly in optimizing LED lighting spectra for plant cultivation. The lecture will highlight recent findings from a study using tomatoes as a model crop, exploring the interactive effects of green light with blue and far-red wavelengths on plant elongation and biomass. Researchers suggest that an unidentified photoreceptor may be involved in the plant’s response to green light, which exhibits varied effects when combined with other light wavelengths. The event will take place at the Auditorium in the Omnia building, providing attendees insight into this emerging area of study.
