Alloy Wire International (AWI), a manufacturer based in Dudley, has successfully reduced its energy costs by 25% through support from business Growth West Midlands and a Dudley Net Zero Grant. Faced with a dramatic spike in energy prices, AWI invested in solar panels and upgraded its lighting system with LED technology. The installation of 425 solar panels, which directly power the factory’s continuously operating furnaces, marked a significant improvement. Additionally, the company benefited from the Dudley SME Grant to acquire advanced machinery, enhancing production capabilities and enabling it to cater to larger automotive orders. AWI’s commitment to sustainability and innovation not only aids cost reduction but also strengthens its competitive edge in the global market, contributing to its £17.5 million annual turnover with exports accounting for 55%.
