Lighting Science Group’s innovative World Bulb, an affordable omnidirectional 60-watt equivalent A19 LED bulb, has been honored as a 2012 International CES Best of Innovations Design and Engineering Award Honoree in the Eco-Design & Sustainable Technologies category. This new bulb boasts a 35% reduction in electricity usage compared to CFLs and contains no toxic mercury, marking a significant advancement in sustainable lighting. Priced under $15, consumers can expect a payback period of roughly eight months, with a lifespan of 17 years based on average daily usage. The World Bulb is set to launch in India in early 2012, with plans for international rollout throughout the year. Featured at the upcoming CES, which runs from January 10-13, the award showcases exemplary engineering and design within consumer electronics.
