City and school district officials in Zillah have unveiled an ambitious plan to construct the Zillah sports Hub, a multi-sport athletic complex on nearly 24 acres of district-owned land. During a joint announcement on May 16, Mayor Dr. Scott Carmack and School District Superintendent Doug Burge outlined the vision for this state-of-the-art venue, which will feature all-weather synthetic turf fields and stadium lighting to accommodate a variety of sports, including soccer and football. The complex aims to serve both local youth and visiting athletes, enhancing educational and recreational opportunities while fostering community engagement. Pending approval of a joint operating agreement, the project will be executed in two phases—starting with immediate youth league usage and culminating in a complete facility by 2030. Funded through grants and private donations, the Sports Hub is expected to boost local tourism and economies by attracting regional tournaments and events.
