Connecticut Lighting Firm Accused of Breaching Multiple Federal Trade Regulations

LED Lighting Solutions, a Connecticut-based company owned by Thomas DeSantos, has reached a $300,000 settlement with the federal government after allegations of violating the Buy American Act, the Trade Agreements Act, and the False Claims Act. The settlement follows claims that DeSantos sold foreign-made products, including direct shipments from China, to various government procurement agencies while falsely certifying TAA compliance. The allegations, which also involved contracts with the Air Force and other federal agencies, included misrepresentations regarding the origin of the products supplied. In addition to the settlement, LED Lighting Solutions agreed to withdraw two pending appeals related to contract terminations for providing non-compliant products. The investigation was supported by multiple federal agencies, including the FBI and the Department of Justice.
