The Floyd County Commission will convene on Tuesday to vote on a rezoning request for a new data center near Coosa High School, following a favorable 5-2 recommendation from the Rome-Floyd County Planning Commission. Key conditions for approval include restricting the property’s use to a data center or related operations, implementing dark-sky lighting to minimize light pollution, and keeping sound levels within specified limits during different times of the day. Additionally, the commission will hold a public hearing regarding a proposed restaurant and garden center at 2045 Morrison Campground Road, which the planning commission recommends denying. Other items on the agenda include two rezoning requests with planning approval for various properties. The meeting will take place at 6 p.m. at the county administration building, preceded by a caucus at 4 p.m.
