Embedded with upconversion nanoparticles, these lenses convert invisible infrared radiation into visible colors, enabling wearers to see heat signatures and decode messages—capabilities demonstrated in trials with 15 participants. Although the lenses currently produce less detailed images and require artificial infrared light sources for optimal performance, their potential applications span fields like medicine and security.
